Kitty Hawk

We decided to take the long way home from North Carolina to avoid Washington, D.C. traffic. Tim planned a short stop along the Outer Banks at Kitty Hawk, North Carolina. Mostly he wanted to see if Butter would like the ocean. Dogs are not allowed on most North Carolina beaches during the Sumner season; Kitty Hawk is the exception. Please keep in mind that Butter does NOT enjoy the snow, has to be dragged outside if it is raining, and even avoids puddles on the sidewalk. Why Tim had any hope that his love of the beach would be shared by the family pet is beyond me (it was a little sweet though). You can probably guess what her reaction was to the ocean. That's right, as soon as the tide got her wet she was clawing her way back up the sand as fast as her little paws would go. We spent about 5 minutes on the beach in Kitty Hawk and had a grumpy, wet, sandy dog. Tim did shoot this little video at the visitor center while we dried Butter off some. Warning: it is a little shaky and could get you dizzy if you try hard enough.
