First Summer Harvest

I have a community garden plot that I have been neglecting for the last couple of weeks. I took advantage of the sunny day yesterday(those seem to be rare this summer) and put on my gardening shoes. The weeds were out of control of course. There is no rest for the weary when it comes garden invaders. The hour or so I spent pulling things out of the ground only made a small dent. Some of my plants did not look so hot but I did come across a few pleasant surprises. The Kohlrabi was more than ready for harvest and I found a couple of gigantic zucchini hiding under leaves. The rest of my harvest included beans, pickling cucumbers, bell peppers, a leftover radish, and a couple of small carrots. Sadly, it looks like my tomatoes will all be ripe when I am out of town. What a waste. It looks like I will have a lot of basil for pesto though. Now we just have to figure out what to do with all this stuff. I can almost smell the zucchini bread now.
