"Girlin' it up"

Silly Girls

I had a couple of friends visit from out of town this weekend. Tim wisely decided to spend his time studying for his upcoming exam and leave us to "girl it up" (his words not mine). It was really great to see Barb (currently living in Salt Lake City) and Michelle (Currently living in Boston) from my college days at the U. It is always nice to see friends you haven't seen in a while! We had good laughs, good food, and little sleep.

For our tourist outing on Saturday morning we decided to visit the Mark Twain House. Who knew Mark Twain and Harriet Beecher Stowe were next door neighbors? This is one of the few tourist things I have done since moving to Connecticut; not that West Hartford is a major tourist destination by any stretch of the imagination but it does have it's charms. The outdoor photos have an extra dose of magic due to the rich foliage display. I must admit the Autumnal glory seems a little less enchanting with each developing blister from the yard rake. That however is a story for another day.

The outing was educational and entertaining. I think it will be fun to visit again in a couple of months with Tim when it is decorated for the Christmas holiday season. We did not expect to see Mr. Twain himself but apparently the Lego company thought it important that visitors have some idea of what the man looked like. Too bad the flash blurred this shot and does not give you a good look at his face. Perhaps you will have to come and see it for yourself if your travels bring you to the Hartford area.
