DMV

It seems the third time is the charm as far as the DMV is concerned. It took Tim and I three visits before we could trade in our PA licenses for CT ones. The first trip happened to fall on Saturday before a Holiday so of course the DMV was not open. I don't know where my head was expecting a government facility to actually operate anywhere near an offical holiday. The second trip involved waiting in line for at least an hour only to get to the counter and find out that the State of CT did not view our mortgage agreement as valid proof of residency. Saturday morning we got all of our paperwork together and made a final attempt. We arrived at the DMV in Wethersfield at 9am. This time after our hour long wait in line we receive Connecticut's stamp of approval. We have our picture taken while waiting and we are put in the State's database. The guy at the counter takes all of our documentation (PA licenses, Marriage license, utility bill, magazine, passports), charges us about $40 each for examination/ application fee, and tells us to go and sit in another area and wait for our names to be called. We go and sit and wait. And Wait. And Wait. After about forty-five minutes a woman behind a closed door calls us in individually and gives us breif eye tests. We go back to waiting. Another 30 minutes go by and a second woman at another counter calls us over. She has us verify that all of the information we have given is correct on thier forms and charges us $140 license fee. She hands back our documentation and we wait some more. Finally, a second gentleman calls us over and takes our pictures for the second time. We wait some more. At last at about 11:30 am we are given our CT licenses and are free to go about our Saturday. All it cost was three trips, a few hours, and $220. I can finally apply for a public library card! I am not sure I want to know what it is going to take to get the cars registered....

Oh, I totally feel your pain! The DMV is like an ALL DAY event! Such utter ridiculousness just should not exsist in this world! LOL
